Bobby Little on StatueOasis Restaurant

Southern Boating Magazine calls it “a funky old restaurant on the hill with a great view.This Restaurant provides a 5 star rusticdining experience “Islandstyle.” Bobby Little, known to the locals as “Island Bobby”, cultivates a garden ofdelicacies such asbasil, thyme, dill, lettuce, banana, coconuts, key limes, chili peppers, passion fruit and tomatoes. Integrating them with fresh caught Lobster, Tuna, Wahoo, Mackerel, Grouper and Dolphin, Conch and Crab. Hors douvers, entrees and desserts, all created from scratch with milk extracted fromthe islands coconuts make up his now famous coconut conch soup featuring a hint of lime and chili dancing in the background. His specialties include lobster tempura, mushroom caviar, tuna tartare, Portobello mushroom, Carpaccio topped with home grown sun dried tomatoes and basil. Bobby’s signature dish is fresh caught Lobster Wontons which the locals claim are like a romantic evening for your taste buds.

According to “Yachtsman’s Guide To The Bahamas” – Oasis provides “ five-star chow which by itself deserves a stop in the Bahamas.” These days the marina is filled not because of the natural splendors that Rum Cay offers but for the dining experience provided by Little. The Oceanfront Bar is a favorite of many celebrities who visit and own property on the island. By the way theOceanview boasts of “the coldest beer in the Bahamas.” A claim which has been substantiated by many locals. This restaurant has tremendous local character and is without a doubt one of the most charming local restaurants in the Caribbean. “Kay’s claims to provide the freshest fish in the world, from the sea to the plate faster than the island’s famous green flash. Dolores Wilson, the island’s matriarch, local historianand acclaimed author, provides facts and regales island lore on Rum Cay's rich history which in itself is worth the visit. This family owned and operated restaurant is one of the most memorable establishments anywhere. Her family selects only the finest conch and crabs used to prepare their famous salad dishes and indigenous island delights. While visiting Kay's it is a must to meet with or better yet eat with Dolores as she will regale you with stories past down from generations about the rich history of this region.

"The Yachtsman’s Guide To The Bahamas" calls Toby's "a good place to enjoy a cool local drink and meet good friends.". Toby's is definitely another local favorite and is renowned for its delectable conch fritters made with "local love."

Two Sisters Take Away

Run by local fishing legend George Gaiter, Two sisters provides delicious carry out meals including lobster, conch, fish, chicken and fresh bread with dockside delivery available to the marina. If George says “its so” then it must be as he is renowned as one of the best fisherman in The Bahamas. Who is better to eat fish from than the man who catches the best fish?
